- Visiting the site, I became very nostalgic.I often
re-live those moments that I spent in Nirmal
Nivas. Gosh! Those were the days. You being the first
person , in Bangalore,whom I could call mine,I still
see you as one of my guides.I believe I was the only
one to give you less headache,so,it was quite easy for
me to convinced you for latenight movies etc etc.
we were partners in our evening walk, basketball, throw
ball and what not.I highly cherish those moments. Those
bikering and bantering with the hostelites, shifting of
the hostel from 4th block to 5th and from 5th to
………and that too during world cup!!!!yes, pestering you
for the late night cricket matches and those
complains(you know from whom).I still Remember you
made yummy parathas for us when we helped you to shift
the hostel. That was a real treat, not to forget your
expertise cuisine.
Time and again ,I re-live those moments and completely feel rejuvenated.
Please keep in touch.
Want to know more about others.Myself in mumbai now.Hope to meet
you someday .
Cheers
- Congratulations!!! Heard about your great news from Arupa and I am so happy for you. If there is one peron who deserves all the happiness in this world, that is you. And the website is amazing. My throat kind of choked up and I had trouble breathing for a few minutes as I went through the website and saw the pictures. I couldn't believe there are pictures of me on the website as well ;)

The Nirmal Nivas days are really the best days of my life. I met the two mad Ray sisters recently and they whole heartedly agreed with me. I made some wonderful friends and learnt a lot about friendships, relationships with other people and about life in general. Holi, birthdays, Carol singing during Christmas...all those memories bring a smile to my face. I remember the extra effort and interest you took in me and Arupa and how you made us study in your room so that you could keep an eye on us. Thank you for doing all that, Monica.
I still have the Nirmal Nivas T -shirt with my name at the back, quite old and faded by now, but something that I will never part with. You were the best warden that anyone can ask for. More than that, you have always been a friend, agony aunt, fashion expert and a kind teacher from whom I learnt a lot (I am not talking about book-learning here). Oh and I also learnt to say the prayer "Our Father" because of our daily prayer meetings which impressed my Christian boyfriend no end!!! Ha Ha!!! May God bless you and Guy and our hostel and may He give us the strength to move ahead in life and be happy wherever we are.
Please give my love and regards to everyone in Nirmal Nivas. I miss you and those days a lot ;)

- I hope this mail finds you in the best of your heart. I believe that your hostel is doing well. I was so glad to go through the hostel website. I too am running a hostel which is under school. I learned so much from you during my stay with you which I am so grateful. I am implementing what I learned and it is very effective. I and my family are planning to come down to Bangalore during the 1st week of January. We are looking forward to visiting you and the hostel. Kindly convey my regards to all I know. With much regards Beni
- "it was in aug 1998 that i first set foot on nirmalnivas. I felt i was home away from home. There were only about 30 of us mostly from the north east. The food what we got was a major high light coz we use to get the food that we eat at home like 'baih' which is a stew. Like i said it was like a home away from home coz we had everything like the bible reading n prayer before dinner, which we do every evening. We had study hour from 6pm to 8.30pm, which is very good for us students who needs moulding. We were restricted at nite time n we still enjoyed our college life to the maximum. We had b'day parties, christmas parties, freshers n farewell parties. I have been fat being living in nn,n had the first colourful holi that i ever had,we use to play only with plain water in my previous hostel. I miss those days n i can not bring back yesterday except recall those wonderful times that i spent in nirmal nivas just ive done right now. So far those who are in nn n those who are yet to join i wish u ll the luck n i hope u will enjoy your nn as much as i did. "
- "Away from home, in a beautiful
city, here to study. What could I ask for but a place I can sink in and chill out too??
I've built my nest here in Nirmal Nivas. Variety is what we seek in life and that's exactly what I see here.
We came from different ethnic backgrounds with our own unique experiences and yet when we converge here, we
blend, we learn, we have fun, we compete, we fight (come on, we're all human!)
and we create memories."
"Celebrations are a part of us too. If it is your birthday, chocolate cakes and black forest cakes are not enough. You'll be blessed with eggs and tomatoes and buckets full of water at midnight. Ask the warden please if that's any exaggeration. Let her speak from experience. She is the "Bog Momma" here but she's also a friend, a 'money lender' [So, if you are broke.....] and mind you, she's a law enforcer. She sees to it that you honour curfew time and study hours. If she thinks you need a break, she might just escort you to a late night movie.... you never know...!!!"

"
I checked the website and it is really cool.
I had and still have nostalgic feelings going through the site...
I mean every tiny memories just flushed back to my system.
After home, the only place I miss is Nirmal Nivas.
I realized that I missed my second home and till today I miss those beautiful moments spent in Nirmal Nivas.
Especially I miss you Monica and every one I left behind right from my friends to my sisters and the kitchen sisters too who always made my stomach full with tasty breakfast lunch and especially dinner. Please do give my regards to everyone I knew and yes to the freshers too. I'm sure they too must be having a wonderful time as well as strict study hours. All I have to say is dear friends try your best to be a part of the Nirmal Nivas family coz soon when you finish your college you'll miss the best days of ur life...so when you are there cherish the moments. As for myself, I'm at present working as a Counsellor of Aptech Computer education...and doing my final year M.A in English Literature too. Have big plans coming up but for now I'm taking one day at a time. Being the Counsellor of such a reputed computer industry is a good experience...could have listed down every details the best part of my job but I guess my letter has gone too long.... so I end here .... but Monica please do keep in touch and yes I hope to see you one day.....
(Prayers for my friends and you especially).
Miss you ...................................a lot!
Always Karma (Memories is all I have !) "

"I hope that you still remember me.
I am.... Azy, the Iranian girl.
Oh God, you guys have a web site - incredible - realy!!!
Asani wrote to me in one of her mails that Nirmal Nivas has got its won web site.
Today I just wanted to check if she told me the truth and she was right.
I saw the new Nirmal Nivas.
I guess this one is the new building.
Near Coffeeday right?
I've not seen this new hostel, but i believe it is beautifull (as I saw in the pictures)
Oh God I saw the photos. Lots of them were from the time that I was there. Oh our Hawaii party. Our Christmas party. You know, when I saw the pictures I realised how much I miss that life. How much we used to take night outs.remember?? Oh God everytime we gave some stupid reasons and you always let us go. Oh Monica, I wish I could come there and see you all again.
I am in Germany now. It is almost more that one year. I picked up German and I got through language exams very well. Now for this comming semester, I have been accepted by Hannover university to do a continuation course in Biology. In Germany, the system is different from India .
So that is all. Do reply me back please. I 'll be very happy to hear from you. Take care and give my regards to all the girls who I know.
Take care "

" 'Nirmal Nivas' has always been a second home to me for the past four years because staying in this place I don't feel the need for anything.
It has taught me how to stand for myself when no one is there for me.
But whenever I need help, I can always lean onto my warden or my friends (Nirmalites) who are always ready to help me.
And I believe that everyone staying here would feel the same way about this place as I do.
I enjoyed myself and I thank 'Ma'am' for everything she did to help me. May God Bless her."
-
"A friend of mine once asked me if I was going out for the weekend. "I guess I'll be at HOME", I replied.
"Home? I thought you area staying in a hostel?" she asked........Well, it was then that I realised Nirmal Nivals has been like my home.
Then I said to myself, "Yes, this is my Home"."
Moreover, I have 'little sisters' to play and joke around with, 'big sisters' to look up to, 'good friends' to live with and most of all, 'security, appreciation, advice and reprimands' from 'ma'am', throughout these years and thank you so much for that.
I'll surely miss staying here but I know Nirmal Nivas is a place I can always come home to.....no matter where I go....... ALL THE BEST NIRMALITES AND GOD BLESS!!!"

"Hey, I am one of the students from Nirmal Nivas Hostel.
The real enjoyment in my life was the time I spent in Nirmal Nivas. The main thing I admire is that regulation in our hostel, like in-time, our prayer time/ I never felt that I was out of my home.
By the way, I finished my degree and Post-Graduation also.
Monica sis, our warden is cool and helpful. I am going to miss her and Nirmal Nivas."
- "It's been so long since i got news about all you guys there.
Arupa messaged me and she told me about the site that you are opening...and about your old students writing to you and telling you about their experience in Bangalore..well Monica you should know better than me about my experiences.hehehehhe....
Anyways it was a good and bad experience..lot of fun......had more of a blast than anything else.....hostel life was good and exciting..had been naughty but had a lovely warden like you who understood and stood by us no matter what...you were more than a friend to us, you were a pillar of support and a comfort to us when we were far away from our families and had no one but you and our friends...
We have had our ups and downs, but well that is always a part of everything in life, and the fact is we moved on inspite of all of that and lived as a happy family........the care and concern was unfathomable. I wish i could get back those days and times spent in Bangalore......those were some of the best days of my life.....we've learnt and grown so much in our own ways in life.....
Today, I can say whatever I might be and whatever I might have learnt Monica and my life in Bangalore has been a major part of it and may be iam a better human being today.because of that....I would always be grateful to her and love her as a person and for everything that she has done for me.....
I miss you Monica and your food, the hostel, my old friends, the smoking on the sly and the drinking....hehehehehe ( when you caught us so easily when we did all the wrng things...hehehhe)
Take care n keep in touch"
